The University of Maryland, College Park confers degrees/awards diplomas three times a year:

• August - for those students who complete their degree requirements in either summer term 
• December - for those students who complete their degree requirements during the fall semester
• May - for those students who complete their degree requirements during the spring semester

Commencement ceremonies are conducted only once per academic year at the end of the spring semester.  All graduates from that academic year (August, December, and May) will be invited to participate in both the Campus-Wide and College of Behavioral & Social Sciences ceremonies each May. Students should check the commencement website and the College's website for more information regarding specific times and venues during the spring semester.
