What do you enjoy the most about your position?
The level of responsibility was refreshing. I was given free reign to organize my team and plan our work out. I felt as if my work and decisions were respected and valued.
What is a typical day like in your position?
Various strategy and planning meetings with my team and with the clients to showcase our work and gain feedback. Tracking the work our team was doing and planning out our work plan for the next few weeks.
Which undergraduate experiences did you find most helpful in preparing you for your current position?
My college roommate who was a year ahead of me and also an Economic student graduated and began working there. He recommended the company to me when they conducted on campus interviews. I went and enjoyed learning more about the company. I was then invited to one of their offices for a day of interviews and lunch with recent college graduates currently working there. I received my offer a few months later and began work a few months after graduation.
Which undergraduate experiences did you find most helpful in preparing you for your current position?
The university career's office helped me prepare my Resume and hone my interviewing skills.
How has your coursework helped you in your current position (i.e. quantitative skills, research techniques, communication skills)?
Task and time management, communication skills, and working with a deadline were all crucial skills that I developed in my courses at UMD.
Any else you want to share?
I am currently studying for my Master's in Economics at the London School of Economics. I made the decision to go because I wanted to advance my Economics career and hopefully use that knowledge more directly in my career.
