"The Decline in Business Dynamism in the U.S.: Causes and Consequences"
The U.S. has historically been characterized by a highly flexible and dynamic economy enabling the U.S. to stay at the technological frontier while responding to ever changing economic conditions. A critical component of this dynamism has been a vibrant pace of business formation with high growth young businesses making disproportionate contributions to innovation, job growth and productivity growth. Both dynamism and entrepreneurship have declined in recent decades. This newly funded Kauffman-supported research explores the causes and consequence of this decline.
