Student & Faculty Arrival Time & Location

  • Undergraduate & Masters Students/Marshals: Enter the Xfinity Center through Gates C or D.  Assemble in regalia at 5:45 p.m. in the Pavilion (auxiliary gym) located inside the lower level of the Xfinity Center. Check-in with a graduation marshal to obtain your name card and get line-up/processional information.
  • PhD Students/Faculty/Platform Party: Enter the Xfinity Center through Gates C or D. Assemble in regalia at 5:45 p.m. in the Media Room. Volunteers will be on hand to direct you to the Media Room.

Important Venue Information

There will be a bag check for all students and guests upon entering the Xfinity Center. We ask that everyone avoid bringing bags or limit the amount and size of bags in order to expedite entry for everyone. Please note that no strollers or backpacks will be allowed in the Xfinity Center.

Parking

Free parking will be available in any surface lot or parking garage on campus. Parking closest to the Xfinity Center is available in the Terrapin Trail Garage (Lot 6), Lot 4B, or Lot 9B.

For driving directions and campus maps click here.

Accessibility

Parking for guests with disabilities is located in the Terrapin Trail Garage (Lot 6) next to the Xfinity Center. Level 2 has a ramp leading directly to Gate E where you can enter Xfinity Center without stairs.

Once inside the Xfinity Center, staff will direct wheelchair guests to their seating area on the Concourse level (level 3) above sections 120 and 121. Due to limited space, we ask that only one family member sit with the guest in the disabled seating section, and that additional family members sit in the nearby sections. Volunteers will be on hand to help guests find seating that best fits their needs.

Guests who have difficulty walking are encouraged to enter the arena from Sections 120 and 121 in order to limit the amount of walking and the number of steps to your seat. If you have difficulty walking long distances, you may wish to make arrangements to bring your own wheelchair for the day. The University cannot provide wheelchairs.

If additional accommodations are needed, such as a sign-language interpreter, please send an email to econcommencement@econ.umd.edu as soon as possible.

Academic Regalia

In order to participate in either ceremony, students must purchase academic regalia at the University Book Center. For more information, visit https://umd.edu/commencement/students.
